Magnus Thorén Swedish, b. 1974

Overview
Magnus Thorén is a Swedish-born, Berlin-based artist with great stylistic diversity and multifaceted artistry. He combines numerous different techniques into a unique ingenuity of contemporary painting. His aptitude allows him to easily switch within figurative, abstract and monochrome compositions, while his subjects thereby vary between cosmology, immanent nature experiences and subtle studies of the transformation of matter. His huge gray monochrome works are impressive examples of how to create vitality on the canvas by basically using only one color. Their surfaces are structured extensively and the use of different shades of grey leads the spectator into his very own perception, in which he is able to discover anything between a landscape, a seascape, a misty sky scene, or even painted light.
